Wal-Mart is dangerous
Not only does Wal-Mart underpay their workers and limit their benefits, it’s also a haven of crime. At least that’s what the latest efforts in the protest to ban the superchain from the city are saying. Rep. Anthony Weiner and Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum have called it a potential “crime magnet”. In fact a survey of 551 Wal-Marts revealed that 148,331 police calls were made there in 2004.
Well now that New York crime rates are still at a comfortable low, perhaps this will provide some much needed action and grit for the city. After all, nothing really says Big Apple cool like a shop-lifting incident at Wal-Mart.
