Tony Awards Censors ‘Passing Strange’ Song
Producers of this year’s Tony Awards don’t want to take their chances and have a similar incident to the 2005 Super Bowl. The song “We Just Had Sex” from the new Broadway musical “Passing Strange” has been cut from the CBS pre-awards show on June 7 because it’s “too racy.” The show’s producer Oskar Eustis vows to protest the censorship, but a rep for CBS maintains that the song was “inappropriate…for a 7pm audience when children are watching.”
What do you think CBS should do? The lyrics to the song are:
We just had sex
There’s nothing sleazy ’bout a natural reflex
It’s nice and easy
No need to crane your necks
It’s all cool and breezy, baby
