That’s more than our incomes
While we’re struggling to pay rent every month by compromising on our frappucino addictions, other people are dropping $10,000 on wigs. And no, we don’t mean Britney Spears. Andy Warhol’s signature hair piece earned that much at an auction held at Christie’s. It was more than double the estimated value that the toupee would fetch. And since we know you can’t live without your Christie’s fix, here’s a list of some other items that were up for bid, and the prices they garnered.
A 1977 Polaroid photo of Muhammad Ali, signed by Warhol- $19,200
Warhol Polaroid of Mick Jagger from 1975- $15,600
A black cocktail dress worn by Marilyn Monroe during filming of “The Misfits”- $66,000
An address and telephone book belonging to Monroe in the early 1960s- $31,200
Now that’s what we call big spending. Or, in more practical terms, frivolous purchases.
