J.P. Morgan Chase Wants to be YOUR Facebook Friend.

J.P. Morgan Chase has signed an exclusive deal with college social network the Facebook to be the site’s sole credit card sponsor. The bank will begin running banner ads on the site that will invite members to join a Facebook group (members of the Facebook can create different groups for fellow members to join). The super trendy Chase group is for students who are interested in learning about or signing up for the new “+1” credit card. The card carries the tagline: “A totally new way to hook up your friends, yourself and your community.” So let’s get this straight…they’re marketing a new credit card to poor financially challenged college students & marketing it as a “totally new” way to “hook up your friends, yourself and your community”? How the hell are they exactly trying to hook you up? You can all bond through the debt that you’re adding to your student loans? “Wow, you’re soooo cool cause you got the new Facebook sponsored credit card!” And since when is giving a college student a credit card a “totally new” idea? Isn’t that what parents are for?
