Anna Wintour to the rescue? According to Page Six, the Devil herself is arranging for leaders in the fashion industry in New York are to meet to discuss how to deal with increasing calls for laws to keep the ‘rexic models off the catwalks.
“Anna held a symposium on the issue, and she’s planning another meeting this week,” said one model agency chief. “We would much rather come up with a way of self-policing ourselves than have regulations rammed down our throats.”
Anna and co. were motivated to meet after the Italian government and fashion chiefs announced last week that they’re working on a plan to crack down on ultra-thin models, who “appear to be suffering from eating disorders.” Three months ago, Spain passed a law requiring every model to have a body-mass index of at least 18.
The symposium would go as follows: Everyone politely declines the banana nut muffins Anna offers in favor of a healthier three almonds and a cinnamon breathe mint. Everyone passionately cries over the outrage and utter disgrace that models would starve themselves and take drugs to suppress their appetites before sneaking off to the bathroom with a battered looking toothbrush.
